These may be somewhat commonsense, but it's important information about protecting your PC from Malware and Viruses
- If you're still using Internet Explorer, stop it. Tell all your friends to stop it too. Get Firefox
- Use a decent software firewall, I prefer ZoneAlarm on XP. ZoneAlarm Free Version
- Use a decent AV package with a realtime network traffic scanner. I like Avast. Avast Free Version
- Run an anti-spyware tool with some regularity. I like Spybot Search and Destroy plus occasionally AdAware and Ewido. Free Spybot Download
- Get yourself a copy of HiJackThis and use it to generate the reports. Be careful deleting anything though because it can have a big impact on your system, and the reports are not intutive until you get familiar with them. There is a great community of users who will help you decypher the logs at CastleCops and PCGuide.
